Getting in touch

First off, thanks for wanting to chat! I get busy from time to time (as do we all), but I’d like to think I respond fairly quickly to folks.

What I won’t respond to

If you’re pitching a startup, sorry I’m not that guy. Try a VC. At this time, I won’t do paid collaboration or sponsored content for your startup/product either. I currently work for Microsoft, so I’m pretty limited in what I can do, but it goes against who I am generally.

At work and in my private life, I follow the no hello convention. Just ask the question. I won’t bite if you do! The worst that can happen is that I say no.

I will ignore you if you ask “Can I ask you a question?”. You can save yourself some time by just asking me.

I’m also not available for comment on what my employers do. I don’t want to get fired for saying anything wrong, and chances are you know as much as I do.

Bluesky: willvelida.com

My primary means of broadcasting things to the world, so please give me a follow there. I do read my DMs and reply to posts.

LinkedIn: willvelida

I accept connections from people I’ve met, worked with, and spoken with. You can mail me there if you wish, and once I know you a bit more, we can connect.

Any spam mail with result in a block. Let’s not waste our time.

X: willvelida

Some of my friends are still on X, as well as a couple of security folks who I’m interested in learning from.

Don’t bother messaging me there. I just post into the world and don’t look at messages. If you reply to a tweet, I usually reply back (unless you’re a dick).
